Horse hair hitching is an art form that is centuries old, going back to the moors in Spain. It came to this country with the Spanish, where it was perfected by the Indians, cowboys and Mexicans, who created useful every day items. Almost a lost art, it continued to be practiced by prisoners, and is experiencing a resurgence in popularity. Hitching is a very time intensive art form (more so even than beadwork) and cannot be massed produced. It is a fascinating process, and the result is a product of unique appearance and feel.�
